Music Monday: Metronomy

Okay, maybe I'm posting this Metronomy song for selfish reasons (that's my name!), but also I really like it. I was so pumped when my friend Max let me know about this song where they say my name really funny. It also reminds me of impromptu dance parties at Max's and helps with the homesickness on days like today when all of my friends are together on Long Island playing Kan Jam and laying on hammocks. I am laying on this rad new couch that we got for $30 dollars today, however. And I am thoroughly enjoying it.

The Courthouse

Slowly but surely, I've been participating in life beyond our apartment. So far lots of swimming and Target/Kroger stops, but we've adventured downtown too! The other night we drove down on a whim and Andrew took me to the courthouse where he skated and I snapped some photos. My camera is still giving me the "Error 99" screen every so often which is frustrating! But I managed to get a few shots of my favorite part, which was this fountain in front of the building. Today I put on my bathing suit the moment I hopped out of bed, ran some errands and then layed out by the pool with Andrew once he got home from work. Then we ate hot dogs and tater tots :)

How have you guys been celebrating this holiday weekend?

New Homes

Some more of our furniture and things were delivered this week, and the feel of our apartment has been coming along nicely. I'm so happy that Andrew and I both get to have our respective creative spaces - though tonight we just colored in my sketchbook on the living room floor with a 24 pack of Crayola's. Andrew's sister, Laurie (who is actually one of the few people who I know reads this - hi Laurie!) said that my space is so much more soothing than Andrew's, which is funny, and also true. My "office" doesn't really have a theme, I just hung up a bunch of stuff that I liked (my Lemuria set list needed to be displayed) that also inspires me and makes me feel good. I think all we really need is a couch and some curtains and we can start feeling really at home here.
Every day I wake up and head out, I'm so thrilled to be somewhere fresh and new. I felt a little bit homesick when I started listening to a friends band while driving the other day, but it went away pretty quickly. I'm excited to make more friends and further explore our new city. A cashier the other day gave me back my ID and said "This is a long way from home!" to which I replied "Yeah, but this is home now.", and it felt good.
Home is where the heart is :)

Last Week on Instagram

One of my most significant recaps yet!

Remember how excited I was about that little baby top knot? Yeah, then I went and cut all of my hair right off. The transition was painless and easy for me, and I love my new hair (or lack thereof)

On Sunday, I packed out my little Jetta and ventured down I-81 South to start my move to Nashville. I stayed over in Virginia with Andrew's sister, Michelle. She fed me and let me sleep for a very long time. The next day, I drove 600 miles into Tennessee and after two very large iced coffees, I finally made it! I was so pumped to see Andrew, as well as Laurie and Ed. It's really nice having family here, makes the transition a bit easier.

On Monday, we got our keys and moved into our BEAUTIFUL apartment. It's the perfect size for the two of us, and everything is so new and clean. After living in basement apartments and college houses, it feels so good to have a place to really call my own.

So, we don't have any furniture or a TV set yet, but we're having fun just laying on the living room floor and watching Netflix. We've become excellent bargain shoppers and our cabinets and fridge are stocked. I'm in such a comfortable place, despite my lack of a couch. Or anywhere to sit that isn't our (very comfy, brand new king sized) bed. :)

Yesterday we ventured downtown for the first time since I visited last year. Walked over the pedestrian bridge into Cumberland park and sat for a while. And then we drove to 8th Ave. South to browse at Pre to Post Modern. Such great stuff there!

Last night we hung out at Andrew's friend Paul's house. It was nice and instantly calmed my fear of getting out there and meeting new people. Plus drinking a tall boy by a fire gave me an immediate familiar sense of "home". I'm truly enjoying every minute I've been spending here, and it's only just begun.

Music Monday: The Echo-Friendly

It's that time of the week! Conveniently, I just heard this incredible song about a half hour ago during the closing credits on Girls. I've listened to it about five times since then. I even posted it on my Facebook wall. And here, for you, The Echo Friendly - Same Mistakes.

Oh, hey

As you can clearly see, things have been RIVETING.

My life right now consists of: Packing for Nashville, Googling things to do in Nashville, dreaming about this vintage shop in Nashville, Facetiming my boyfriend (who is in Nashville), loving Lena Dunham and Jon Hamm insane amounts and thenceforth watching a ton of Girls and Mad Men, spending time with my parents who were visiting, working all the time, sending out my resume to anywhere I can find that's hiring in Nashville, realizing my hair is long enough for a baby bun (pictured), thinking about that damn Michelle Williams cut way too much and trying very hard to resist it, a very large iced coffee every single morning, day dreaming about my new bed that will be waiting for me in Nashville, day dreaming about the boy who I will be sharing that bed with who I haven't been able to cuddle with in over a month, not being very hungry due to stress/excitement but shoving Chobani and hummus in my mouth anyway, wanting to pack up my car and just drive to Nashville already, heavily contemplating a new home for my fish who I might just let swim around a wonton soup container and bring with me because I love him, petting dogs, wanting to go shopping SO BADLY, wanting to plan outfit posts SO BADLY but my camera seems to be kind of broken, and right now I'm very thirsty so I'm going to grab a glass of water and call it a night.

Posts of substance - SOON!
Once this move is made, I'm going to be chomping at the bit to post all about my new adventures and discoveries and hopefully friends and stuff. So, see ya then? Or I'll see ya when I see ya.
